Founder/CEO – David Wood
Introducing David Wood as the Founder/CEO of Volleywood Beach Academy. David is a native to St. Augustine, whose love for beach & indoor volleyball started at an early age. He began playing competitive volleyball for his middle school at the age of 10. During high school, he played indoor volleyball with the Wolf Pack Junior Olympic team as Libero. After his Junior Olympic season, David transitioned to beach volleyball where his passion flourished. David has over 25 years of experience in the sport and is still actively competing in beach volleyball competitions throughout the state of Florida.
David is also a board certified nurse practitioner specializing in cardiology, internal medicine, and primary care. Prior to becoming a nurse practicioner, he was a nationally certified critical care nurse with nearly 15 years of experience. David is a graduate with high honors from Florida State University and Spring Arbor University. David is Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certified. In 2013, he was honored as one of the Great 100 Nurses of Northeast Florida.
David strives to better the game of beach & indoor volleyball by increasing competitive playing opportunities for his community and the surrounding areas. Coach Wood’s passion, purpose, determination, and drive has allowed him to create a volleyball academy that will better serve the growth of beach & indoor volleyball for the St. Augustine area.
