Coach Brent
Volleywood Beach Academy is proud to introduce Coach Brent. Volleyball has been a part of my life since a young age. At age 8, I began shagging balls and watching practices and scrimmages while my father played for and coached Air Force base teams. At age 13, I played at The Volleyball Connection, a group of private beach courts, in Bossier City, Louisiana. I raked courts and swept concrete paths to earn free playing time. My family moved to Flagler Beach, Florida when I was 15, and I began to play for Flagler Palm Coast High School’s first men’s indoor team in 1993. I was awarded Five Star Conference, All Conference First Team ’93, ’94, and ’95. My doubles team won the St Augustine Beach Volleyball League Men’s Division in the spring of 1996. I Assistant Coached at Flagler Palm Coast High School’s Women’s JV program for a few years after graduating high school. Throughout my college years, I also played on club and intramural teams for UNF, FSU, and UCF as a left front hitter. I later transitioned to a middle hitting position while playing for Eckerd College’s Club Team. I played Adult Ed. and pickup games in Flagler County, St Augustine, Daytona Beach, and Miami for well over a decade, including many Bud Light Beach Tournaments. My wife and I have moved around a lot from Los Angeles, CA to Charleston, SC, and now we have settled in beautiful St Augustine, FL. I love the beach and the sport of volleyball and I’m excited to become involved locally in St Augustine’s volleyball community through VBA!
